Clifton Gorge
One of my worst photography habits happens during location scouting. To find a new location for Ohio Uninterrupted, I start my journey on the ODNR DNAP's main page and hunt around the state map. I'll open up a few locations and about a dozen tabs of secondary information on each state nature preserve (SNP). From there, I proceed to Google image search the living crap out the locations. If the first couple of images don't strike me as interesting, I move on to the next location. Today's SNP features a location I was quick to write-off, Clifton Gorge.
I'm going to keep the commentary on this post to a minimum. My expectations of this trip were near zero, and I was gobsmacked by the beauty of the water flowing through the narrow gorge.
I'd only packed some medium speed Ilford FP4+ film for the day, not anticipating the water roaring along the Little Miami River. More out of necessity than creative intent, today's photographs were made at much wider apertures than is my normal. I could definitely get used to this shallow depth of field thing.
